چکیده
This study provides direct evidence of whether female CEOs are more ethical or risk-averse by investigating the relationship between and related-party transactions (hereafter RPTs). Using a sample Chinese listed firms over 2005−2018, we find that CEO engage in fewer RPTs, suggesting not only but also ethical. Moreover, show firm performance increases when these allow less likely to opportunistic RPTs. Finally, negative association RPTs is pronounced use (i.e., state-owned enterprises).

متن کاملDoes Gender Diversity Promote Nonconformity?
Failure to express minority views may distort the behavior of company boards, committees, juries, and other decision-making bodies. Devising a new experimental procedure to measure such conformity in a judgment task, we compare the degree of conformity in groups with varying gender composition. Overall, our experiments offer little evidence that gender composition affects expression of minority...

This paper shows that conduct described as unethical and blamed on “greed” is sometimes a consequence of market competition. I illustrate this observation using examples of five censured activities: employment of children, corruption, excessive executive pay, corporate earnings manipulation, and involvement of universities in commercial activities. In all these examples, I show how competitive ...
متن کاملReinforcement Learning Leads to Risk Averse Behavior
Animals and humans often have to choose between options with reward distributions that are initially unknown and can only be learned through experience. Recent experimental and theoretical work has demonstrated that such decision processes can be modeled using computational models of reinforcement learning (Daw et al, 2006; Erev & Barron, 2005; Sutton & Barto, 1998). In these models, agents use...
متن کاملDoes R&D Expenditure with Heavy Related Party Transactions Harm Firm Value?
Related party transactions (RPTs) are transactions made among affiliated companies in a conglomerate group. Heavy RPT ratio means high level of dependence of a firm on the captive market within a conglomerate group. This may depress the firm’s incentive to invest in R&D and the high level of R&D expenditure of a firm with heavy RPT ratio may not be efficiently led to high level of firm performa...
